Jivestone EP
The Jivestone EP, featuring 5 full-length tracks, is available for purchase at CD Baby. Jeff Brown of Diojee had this to say about it:
One word to wrap up Jivestone's debut EP: tight. Tight like an Olsen twin-tight. An innovative new sound has been unleashed from the depths of suburban DC. Not since the advent of Go-Go has the area heralded such a pioneering new style. Jivestone delivers danceable groove with melodies that are hard to shake, from the silk-smooth guitar lines in It's Never Enough, to the organ-laden Seeing Things. This EP expands on all the root elements of soul and groove funk, with just a hint of spookiness... as if Herbie Hancock himself had taken the Mystery Machine for a spin around 1976 Motown.
All 5 tracks have been orchestrated with style, and executed with precision. Beers shines in Revolve... reminiscent of a day when Lady Miss Kier Kirby could give me goose bumps with a single lip smack into the microphone. Combined with Bullock, the two pull off some haunting vocal harmonies. The seamless tradeoff of O'Connor's guitar and Bullock's keys adds a very schooled freestyle element to the music, at no time compromising the tightness of the song. There is jazz beyond the Weather Channel.
It's Sam Bass that blasts to the forefront in Piggy's Lament, delivering the flow with more momentum than a fat girl after the ice cream truck. And much to my delight, Grana's trademark disco beat seems to surface in all the right places.
Modern music welcomes back true melody and groove with Jivestone's debut EP. Even Mary-Kate and Ashley will be cuttin' a rug.
